Nicole de Boer is an actress working in film and television, frequently in the sci-fi genre. Born on December 20, 1970, in Toronto, she earned her first main role while still a teenager, in 1988, as a part of the ensemble cast on the five-episode, Toronto-based drama "9B." In 1989, Boer began a brief run on the much-beloved Canadian sketch comedy show "Kids in the Hall," appearing on three episodes and later rejoining the troupe in a different capacity for their 1996 movie "Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy." In 1997, still working in Toronto, she played Yuna, one of the stars of the sci-fi thriller "Deepwater Black." That same year, Boer co-starred in the modestly-budgeted but well-publicized sci-fi horror thriller "Cube," about a group of seven strangers forced together to try and survive an endless maze of life-threatening traps. In 1998, Boer broke through stateside, landing a leading role on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," as Lieutenant Erzi Dax, appearing on 25 episodes in 1998 and '99. Then in 2002, she landed her biggest part to date, on the successful sci-fi mystery "Stephen King's Dead Zone," as Sarah Bracknell Bannerman, the one-time fiancé to lead character Johnny Smith, played by Anthony Michael Hall. Boer appeared on 66 episodes of the series, shot in her native Canada, until 2007.
